    Description

Hey there, I'm Mike, a 5th-generation New Orleanian and a life-long collector of Mardi Gras & New Orleans memorabilia.  I grew up in a family that was active in Carnival and have been a riding member of New Orleans parading krewes like my father before me. I have bought and sold many Mardi Gras items here over the years, earning a 100% positive feedback rating and numerous repeat customers.  I always start the listings for my items at reasonable prices since I am not interested in ripping anyone off.  Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding my listings or Mardi Gras in general.  And as always, I will give a bonus "lagniappe" item to all winning bidders!
This listing features a .999 fine silver doubloon from the 1971 Mardi Gras Krewe of Hermes with the theme "Alexander of Macedon."  It is in very good condition having been stored in a coin-edge holder to prevent tarnish.  It was removed for the first time in many years for the photos, which maximize the occasional minor surface scratch to the proof finish and truly don't do it justice!  Like most of the Hermes Silver doubloons, it weighs over 30 grams so the starting price is probably lower than the value of the silver itself.
Check out my other listings of Mardi Gras and other commemorative doubloons this week, and if you're the winning bidder send a note and let me know if there is a "throw" doubloon you need or a parade you're partial to for your lagniappe item.  Thanks!
