    Description

    Original Civil War/Indian War cap insignia.  Most collectors know this horn as a post-Civil War U.S. Infantry horn adopted for a short time from 1872-1875, but in fact it is a M1858 used by many militia units and was part of the Marine Corps cap insignia during the Civil War.  Excellent condition with one of its original pin backs that would have been correct for the Marine Corps shield.  The other one is broken off.  Brass stamped, about 2 1/4 inches wide.  Most likely a Bannerman piece.  Please judge condition for yourself by the pictures and if you have any question don't hesitate to ask.
