An absolutely gorgeous 1878 three dollar gold piece graded AU 55 by NGC. This coin is the 'Poster Child' for what every three dollar gold piece in AU 55 condition should look like. It holds a great strike strike with entirely original and appealing surfaces among both sides. It has been housed in an old time 'NGC Fatty' holder and has also been approved by CAC for quality.
This date holds a total mintage of only 82,304. However, of this low mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 25,000 have survived in all grades today. It is one of only 550 graded About Uncirculated 55 by NGC. It is also one of only 29 approved by CAC for quality in this grade level.
